207 GTI Tyre wear

Messagepar Kentish Man » 02 Octobre 2008, 13:44

I have had my car for just over a year, it was a demo which had done 4000 miles when I got it. It has now done 12000 miles and I have already had to buy some new front tyres. To me with steady driving this is a small mileage for a tyre change. Is there anyone who has had the same experience, I realise that there is a lot of power going to the front wheels on the GTI and wonder if this was average mileage for tyres.

Hello Kentish Man.
If you can read french, some guys discuss of that subject here -> http://www.feline207.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10200
It seems to be a good average for tyres on a GTI, especially for a demo one.

I am sorry but french I do not have. Thanks for the reply anyway. It looks like the GTI likes eating tyres. One good bit of news was that I saw the salesman who sold me the car, I told him that I was not happy about the tyres and he sent me a voucher for 25% discount off my first service.

The original Bridgestone Potenza has good grip but very soft rubber mixture!
