Hi thanks a lot. I think I never overcooked it. I used a conventional oven instead. I thought I burnt the food. But when I cut it, the I think it's cheese flowed out. And it tasted it. There is I think fish in it. Heck, who cares.The French designed Peugeot drive fantastic on the road just like how marvelicious French cuisines taste. Yummy...

Sorry, I'd love to share the food with you but I can't.

Peugeot 207 : Peugeot 207 1,6 l 16V VTi 120 ch (EP6 88 kW) : The reasonability of gasoline.

Less than one year after its launch, the 207 enlarges its temptative powers by taking profit of a completely new 1.6l gasoline engine, which has a maximum power of 88kW (120 HP) with a torque of 160nm at 4250rpm.
This engine replaces the older 1.6l 80KW (110HP) engine TU5JP4 in the 207 product range.

Aside the manual transmission with 5 gears, a previously unreleased automatic gearbox is offered for the 207 which has a sequential control with the Porsche Tiptronic system.
This will seduce the clients who want more comfort and ease of use.

The lineup of the engines now shows 8 different types:

Gasoline:
    ■ 1.4l 54kW (75 HP), manual gearshift
    ■ 1.4l 16v 65kW (90 HP), manual gearshift
    ■ 1.6l VTi 88kW (120 HP), manual gearshift
    ■ 1.6l VTi 88kW (120 HP), automatic transmission
    ■ 1.6l THP 16v 110kW (150 HP), manual gearshift

    Note: the article is a bit outdated, now there is even a more powerful engine:
    ■ 1.6l THP 16v 128kW (175 HP), manual gearshift
    and the VTi will be also available with 1.4l.

Diesel:
    ■ 1.4l HDi 50kW (70 HP), manual gearshift
    ■ 1.6l HDi 16v 66kW (90 HP), manual gearshift
    ■ 1.6l HDi 16v 80kW (110 HP), manual gearshift

After the launch of the recent 1.6l 16v THP (Turbo High Pressure) of 110kw (150HP), which is equipped with a turbocompressor and high pressure direct injection, this 1.6l atmospheric engine with direct injection shows a second result of the cooperation of PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group, which has the target of developping a new lineup of gasoline engines.
Fitted with very high technology (double VVT*, variable height of valve stroke, etc.) and still very different to its elder brother, this totally new engine highlights by a moderate consumption (6.1l in the mix, and an exhaust of 145 g/km CO² with manual gearshift) for this volume.
To point this different technology up in contrast to the THP, this new engine receives the generic name of VTi (Variable valve lift and Timing Injection).
Image Image Image

This new 1.6l 16v VTi engine is a real center point in the 207 lineup, shoing an excellent compromise between performance and consumption, and targets the largest possible number of customers.
Therfore in the 207 lineup, this 1.6l engine and the two gearboxes will be available for 3 and 5 doors, with a large choice of equipment.

(*) <Variable Valve Timing> or continously variable adjustment

Do you mean the table?
It shows the characteristics of the 1.6l VTi engine and the performance you can achieve with different gearboxex and different tyres.

BVM = manual gearbox
BVA = automatic transmission
(BV = Boite de vitesse = gearbox)

Moteur = engine
Cylindrée = volume
P. Max = moximum power
C. Max = maximum torque
Puissance administrative = official (or regulatory) power

Pneumatiques = tyres
dimensions = size
Circonférence de roulement = wheel circumference

Transmission = transmission
Boite de vitesse = gearbox (BVM resp. MA = manual, BVA reps AL4 = automatic with 4 gears)
Pont = bridge
descente = off peak
(sorry, I don't know the technical meaning of those two things)
Vitesse (km/h) = speed in 1st, 2nd...etc. gear at 1000rpm

Performances
Vitesse maximale = maximum speed
Accélerations... same word ;-)
Conducteur seul = driver only
1/2 charge = half load

Reprises = boost (this means how long it takes to change the speed, e.g. from 80 to 120 km/h without changing the gear).

Consommation = comsumption
ECE and EUDC are European standard driving cycles.
urbaine = urban or in town
extra urbaine = outside towns, interstates (but not highways and fast roads with speed > 100km/h)

Masse = weigth
A vide en kg = empty in kg
avec les pleins = with all liquids filled up
5 portes = 5 doors (the 3 door car will be slightly lighter)

Marc,

Thanks a lot. I really appreciated your help in the translation. Feline207 really need more of pple like you and tiger.

Though I am more interested in the gear ratio for the AL4, I wonder how come the article inputs the speed of different gears@1000rpm instead.

But anyway, based on the article, it is saying 16 inch rims are the recommended choice for the 207 VTI 120. I'm still thinking of buying new rims for my track use. Need another 4 more rims+tyres to preserve tyre heat cycles.

I'd like to welcome you all to also visit to www.peugeotsingapore.org whereby many current/ex peugeot owners in Singapore gather.

Hi FELS,

you're welcome :coucou:

The table compares the performance of both the manual and automatical gearboxes and with the two different sets of tyres which are mostly sold with the 207 cars.

What do you exactly mean by "gear ratio" ?

You can also look the diagrams here:
http://www.feline207.net/photos/modules ... p?lid=2901
They show the achievable speed for every single gear.
The table only contains a comparison for 1000rpm, but I also don't have any idea, why they chose explicitely this rpm.

Gear ratio is the ratio between drive shaft rotation and driven gear rotation.
ie. If the driven gear makes 1 rotation everytime the drive shaft makes 6 rotations, it means the gear ratio is 6. (asking for more torque)
If the driven gear makes 1 rotation everytime the drive shaft makes 0.7 rotations, it means the gear ratio is 0.7 (asking for more speed)

From the table you provided actually shows me a very accurate speed to rpm graph. I tried my car's top speed on a Malaysian highway before. My AL4 only limits to 5000rpm at 4th gear while the gearbox changes gear at about 6000rpm with my tiptronic mode with 2 persons on board and air con on. My top speed is only 170km/h as stated like the in the graph. Occasionally going downslope can increase the speed by a little bit but not exceeding 180km/h.

I wrote to Peugeot to request that they scrap the AL4 & replace it with 6 speeds auto/tiptronic gearboxes instead. The 207 VTI 120 engine power is impressive. But the engine is somehow bonded by the AL4. We need a better gearbox to unleash the lion in the car.

Ah, now I understand, thank you!

Well, please keep in mind that Peugeot makes its cars first for France,
and there the maximum speed limit is 130km/h on fast tracks.

I know... my THP should have a 6th gear...

The engine is very powerful, but the restriction to some specific maximum speed also allows to keep all the related mechanical parts cheaper.

Look at the 207 RC, it has larger brakes etc.
No one is ready to pay extra money just to be able to drive faster.
Honestly, how often do you reach maximum speed?
It takes too much gas and is way too expensive...
Slower driving is safer and better for your wallet

Peugeot are not sport cars, they are stable and reliable cars for families instead ;) :P

Haha.. quite true to a certain extend. But Peugeots are also fantastic track cars. Hopefully the gearbox will also have a wider variety like the engines. ZF can help greatly on this. Some for the family market some for the young sporty market. Or Overseas market.
